Projects - Cave Lake State Park

Dan Morris doing quality control on the new trail

Intro: During the summer of 2004 and 2005 volunteers have been working on finishing the bottom portion of the Overlook Trail. A Trail Care Crew from the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) started things off with a trailbuilding school in May 2004 that included outreach to the local High School. The US Forest Service and Nevada State Parks have also been actively involved with this project. Good job everyone, the trails looking great!

The major project is adding 6.5 miles of new trail to the existing trail system at Cave Lake State Park that will connect two trails and create two additional loops. Four miles and one loop have already been completed and are now open to the public. The work is being performed by US Forest Service and Nevada Conservation Corps crews. We plan on having several volunteer days to help out with this project so Contact Us to find out how you can help. Check back often for update reports and pictures.

Update Report - 8/09/06

Four fun, scenic, "woohoo" miles completed
and the lower loop is open to the public! Still
another 1.5 miles to go on the upper loop with
crews hard at work. If you see the crews out
there be sure to let them know what a great
job they're doing. See below for pictures.

Here's a map showing the new trails
